[vsnet-alert 4376] V542 Cyg relatively rare outburst

V542 Cyg relatively rare outburst

The long-period dwarf nova V542 Cyg is undergoing a relatively rare
outburst. The last confirmed outburst of V542 Cyg occurred in 1998 July
(and a possible positive sighting in 1999 Februrary). Time-resolved
CCD photometry by the Kyoto team during the 1996 August outburst yielded
negative results regarding superhumps. The star is probably a SS Cyg-type
dwarf nova with a long outburst cycle, like DX And.
