[vsnet-alert 4216] Re: SN 2000H (Re: a new KAIT SN in IC 454) http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/alert4000/msg00216.html Dear SN watchers, According to IAUC 7367, the Asiago group claimed about the type of SN 2000H (vsnet-alert 4216 and IAUC 7366). They conclude that it is of type-Ic, not peculiar type-Ia suggested by the CfA group. The CfA group seems to agree it, as seen in their WWW page. Indeed, the spectrum of peculiar (dim) SN Ia resembles very much with that of SN Ic. The similar case as SN 2000H was there about SN 1997ei (IAUC 6796, 6800, 6802). The unusual red tail of the Si II feature around 630nm can be, as the Asiago group mentioned, an absorption by hydrogen. It is very important to continue the monitoring this object because it will give a quite useful information about SN Ic/II relationship. Sincerely Yours, Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan yamaoka@rc.kyushu-u.ac.jp
