[vsnet-alert 4159] SN 2000H (Re: a new KAIT SN in IC 454) http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/alert4000/msg00159.html Dear SN watchers, According to the "Recent SNe" page of Harvard group, http://oir-www.harvard.edu/cfa/oir/Research/supernova/spectra/sn00h.gif, SN 2000H in IC 454 has been revealed as of peculiar type Ia. A deep absorption feature around 580 nm indicates that it seems to be largely (1 -- 2 mag?) dimmer than the typical SNeIa. The characteristic feature of SNeIa, Si II absorption around 615 nm, is also peculier; it shows very asymmetric feature and the steep red edge. It can be due to the low expansion velocity, but the nature is uncertain. Continuous observations are indeed important for this atypical object.
