Dear colleagues, Several visual observers tonight announced an outburst of SW UMa. This too is an interesting target for CCD observers. During the April 1996 superoutburst of this system, Nogami (et al) observed some interesting phenomena, which are worthwile restudying and/or confirming : - large-amplitude superhumps with a period of 0.0582 d only - small-amplitude QPO's - very pronounced super-QPO's with an extra-ordinary large amplitude of 0.2 mag - clear increase in Pdot (superhump period) value in course of outburst There's a PASJ paper (I don't recall the exact reference), providing further details. Shouldn't we install multiple telescopes at our observatories, giving the recent wave of exciting outbursts ? ;-) Best regards, Tonny Vanmunster CBA Belgium Observatory
