Subject: 3 KAIT new SNe

Hi all,

These are the report of 3 KAIT new SNe to the IAU Circulars.

Clear skies and good luck observing,
Weidong

-------------------------------------------

		    SN 1999XXX in NGC 1376

   M. Papenkova and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on
behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (cf. IAUC 6627, 7126)
with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), report
the discovery of an apparent supernova in NGC 1376. The SN was
discovered and confirmed on unfiltered images taken on Dec 23.2 UT
and Dec 24.2 UT respectively, both with mag about 15.5.
The new object is located at R.A.=03h37m05s.72, Decl.= -5 02'19".0
(equinox 2000.0), which is 2".6 west and 14".8 north of the nucleus
of NGC 1376. A KAIT image of the same field on Dec 15.2 UT
showed nothing at the position of the SN (limiting magnitude about 18.5).

-----------------------------------------------------------------

           SN 1999XX in UGC 1993

Papenkova and Li also reported the discovery by LOSS of another
apparent supernova in UGC 1993. The SN was discovered and confirmed
on Dec 23.2 UT (mag about 18.0) and Dec 24.2 UT (mag about 17.2)
respectively, and is located at R.A. =02h31m39s.15, Decl.= +39 22'52".3
(2000.), which is 11".4 west and 9".9 north of the nucleus of
UGC 1993. A KAIT image of the same field on Dec 18.2 UT showed
nothing at the position of the SN (limiting magnitude about 19.0).

-------------------------------------------------------------------

		  SN 1999XXX in NGC 4523

Papenkova and Li also reported the discovery by LOSS of another
apparent supernova in NGC 4523. The SN was discovered and confirmed
on Dec 23.6 UT (mag about 14.5) and Dec 24.6 UT (mag about 14.6)
respectively, and is located at R.A. =12h33m48s.32, Decl.= +15 10'48".2
(2000). The SN is approximately 5" east and 46" north of the diffuse
nucleus of NGC 4523. A KAIT image of the same field on Apr 10.3 UT
showed nothing at the position of the SN (limiting magnitude about
19.0).
