UV Gem outburst The dwarf nova UV Gem has been found to be in outburst on Dec. 8 and 9 images (taken by M. Uemura and T. Kato). This observation clearly demonstrates the shorter outburst cycle length than reported before. Based on three recent outbursts (October. 28-29, Nov. 10-11 and Dec. 8-9, all detected and observed by P. Schmeer and by us), we propose the possible recurrence time of 14 d, which supports the idea of the short recurrence time by P. Schmeer, which was proposed as the alternative explanation of the Nov. 10 outburst). The short recurrence time and low outburst amplitudes, together with the existence of long, bright outbursts (as reported in 1998 April, reaching mv=14.2, G. Hanson) make UV Gem as a very promising candidate of an SU UMa-type dwarf nova. Time-resolved photometry during the present and successive outbursts is strongly encouraged.
