Dear SN watchers,
The LOSS KAIT team has discovered a supernova in some distance,
which seems to be intrinsically very bright. The followup observation
should be fruitful.
According to IAUC 7309, the KAIT team has found a new star on Nov.
13.5, when it was 16.5C mag. The position is R.A. = 11h26m17s.66,
Decl. = +46o58'32".7 (2000.0), which is about 6" north of the nucleus
of a S0/a galaxy NGC 3677. This object lies within the bright bulge,
and no foreground star within such neighbour. The spectrum by CfA
team has revealed that it is of type II event in the early (on or
before maximum) phase.
The recession velocity of the host galaxy is about 7500 km/s, which
indicates that the typical SN II on this distance would be 18 mag or
so at maximum, and even if it is of type Ia the maximum would be
below 16 mag. It seems that this SN is intrinsically bright one, and
the nature of this SN is quite interesting.
As the Cfa team said, this is also an excellent case for the
apprication of EPM (the method for measure the distance). The
followup observation would be important.
For comparison stars, there are some GSC stars around NGC 3788.

According to them, GSCmags show quite good coincidance with VSNET
vmag, with which the chart will be supplied shortly by Dr. Kato.
