Observers may wish to note that the bright star on the northeast
side of NGC 1637 appears in a note in the Longo & de Vaucouleurs galaxy
photometry catalogue (Univ. of Texas monograph no. 3, 1983) with the
following UBV values: V=12.36, B-V=1.23, U-B=1.15. This should be a
suitable comp star for CCD observations. The R magnitude should be
near R=11.7. The star is GSC 4739-0434, as per Yamaoka-san's note.
