NOVA AQUILAE 1999
The following astrometry (J2000.0) is currently available:
R.A. 19h07m36.90s Decl. +12o31'26.2" Akimasa Nakamura (vsnet-alert 3224)
19h07m36.91s +12o31'26.7" Nick James (vsnet-alert 3229)
There is no star in the USNO-A2.0 catalogue sufficiently close to these
coordinates.
A mag 17-18 star is visible on the DSS image (POSS-II red plate) at
R.A. 19h07m37.20s Decl. +12o31'26.8" (J2000.0)
This star seems to be a little bit too far east. And an amplitude of 8-9
magnitudes would be rather small for a classical nova (however, the maximum
of Nova Aql 1999 may have been missed).
I suppose the prenova was fainter than mag 20 and is invisible on the POSS
(red) plates.
Regards,
Patrick
P.S.:
Please check your photos of the region around Nova Aql 1999 - especially
those taken in the days before July 14.
