[vsnet-alert 3025] Rare outburst of RX J0757.0+6306

Visual magnitude estimates by P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, Germany:

RX J0757.0+6306
May 21.95 UT, [13.5 ; 22.949, 13.0 ; 23.003, 13.0
Instrument: 203-mm SCT
Sequence: Henden (V magnitudes)

Robert Fried obtained at my request a V-band image on May 23.151 UT and a
B-band image on May 23.150 UT. On both images the variable is visible at
mag 13 (a more accurate photometry will hopefully follow soon).

Astrometry and photometry of RX J0757+6306 in quiescence (from Arne Henden's
data):
R.A. 07h57m01.37s Decl. +63d06'02.4" (J2000.0) V= 17.497, B-V= -0.110

High-speed photometry during the current rare outburst is urgently required.

Regards,
Patrick
