Norwegian Astronomical Society - Variable Star Section

                  ***** NOVA SAGITTARII 1999 *****

This nova was discovered by Minoru Yamamoto, Okazaki, Aichi, Japan
on two photos from Apr. 25.731 UT. According to Y. and R. Kushida the
object is located at R.A. = 18h07m36s.22, Decl. = -27o20'13".5
(2000.0). A low-resolution CCD spectrogram by W. Liller showed that
the object was a nova. Observations from Apr. 27 indicate a magnitude
of 7-8, while it was at mag. 8.6 at discovery and invisible and
fainter than 11.5 on Apr. 21. [ref. IAUC 7153, IAUC 7154,
vsnet-obs 20276, vsnet-obs 20278].

I have prepared a chart of Nova Sagittarii 1999, which is based on
the Tycho catalogue and available via the Internet address
http://vsnet.astro.uio.no/~bgranslo/varchart.html.

                                  Yours Sincerely,
                                  Bjorn H. Granslo
