RX Cha: possible new SU UMa star
An analysis of time-series CCD photometry of RX Cha on Sep. 16
(vsnet-obs 16007,
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/obs16000/msg00007.html
vsnet-obs 16008,
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/obs16000/msg00008.html)
has yielded a 0.2-mag modulation suggesting the presence of superhumps.
The likely period is 0.08 d. Together with the large outburst amplitude
(the astrometry by Garradd has confirmed that the object is below the limit
of USNO catalog in quiescence), the present observation strongly suggests
that RX Cha belongs to the SU UMa-type subclass of dwarf novae.

Taichi Kato and Gordon Garradd
