Subject: V893 Sco

Dear Dr. Kato,

After long and unsuccessful attempts to find the Satyvoldiev's
configuration around V893 Sco, Dr. Kazarovets looked at a plate
without any eyepiece and found a similar pattern at a larger scale.
Her suggested identification for the five stars in the field is:

GSC 6805.1134 (star "a") 16 15 52.23 -28 35 45.8 (2000.0)
GSC 6805.277 (bright star below) 16 15 51.85 -28 44 14.4
GSC 6805.1202 (bright star above) 16 16 03.84 -28 26 25.0
GSC 6805.1047 (star "b") 16 16 40.70 -28 38 25.2
GSC 6805.1029 (star "c") 16 16 25.68 -28 34 11.8

However incredible, I believe she is right!

Best regards
Nikolai

According to Prof. Samus, the light curve of V893 Sco = SVS 1772
is given in Perem. Zvezdy Prilozheniye, 1982, Vol. 4, No. 20, p. 127;
the curve itself is in p. 143). The light curve shows the object
usually at mag 13.5 (Satyvoldiev's scale), with infrequent (typically
once in one season) "outburst"-like brightenings reaching mag 10.5-11.
"Outbursts" usually lasted ~10 days. In addition to these brightenings,
the a few fadings down to fainter than 15.5 were recorded.

Regards,
Taichi Kato
