Dear Sirs, I'm sending as an attachment a jpg with NGC 4478 and star close to a core. As mentioned in this list, it is possible that this is not a supernova - I checked DSS but images there are overexposed and the star should be hidden in a galaxy. I found one image on the Internet with NGC 4478 and there is some stelar object on the SN possition. Further observations coudl show ligt changes or some spectroscopy could be made. regards Rudolf
