According to IAUC No. 6667 (1997 May 22), M. Turatto et al. confirmed
by spectroscopy that SN 1997cn in NGC 5490 is a peculiar, low-luminosity
type-Ia supernova resembling SN 1991bg.
SN 1997cn was discovered by the BAO Supernova Survey team (W.-d. Li
et al, IAUC No. 6661) at magnitude 15.8 on May 14.6 UT.
