IAUC No. 6558 announces the discovery of a supernova in NGC 3261 by
R. Martin et al. (Perth Observatory). The supernova has an R-magnitude
of 15.5 and is located 58" E and 10" S of the galaxy center (10h 29m.0,
-44o 39', J2000.0). S. Benetti et al. confirmed this object to be a
type-II supernova about 100 days after explosion. A large amount of
reddening is inferred from their reports. The supernova would then be an
easy target for red-sensitive CCDs.
