A chance clearance of cloud in Auckland has enabled us to confirm that the
possible nova in Aquila is HD 188916. The chart issued for UU Aql (Chart
No. 329, Charts for Southern Variables, Series 8) has both PX Aql and
HD188916 misplotted by about 4.2 arc minutes east of their correct
positions. Other stars seem to be correctly placed although the plotted
scale is 12.4"=1mm rather than the 10"=1mm given. This chart was copied
from an earlier chart issued by the AAVSO (No. 1970) in 1975 and the error
has not been noticed since then.

Grant Christie
