Nova Net messages tell the discovery of a probable nova near UU Aql.
Discovered by Stephen Hovell (New Zealand), on 1995 Sept. 20 at mv=9.6.
Confirmatory observation by Peter Williams has shown that the star brightened
to mv=8.0 on Sept. 21.1749. Position (J2000) 19h 57m 36s -9d 12' 45"
(estimated by the discoverer on a variable star chart). This star is NOT
identical with PX Aql near the designated position; located 7'.1 from
PX Aql (PA 196 degrees) and 7'.9 from UU Aql (PA 30.5 degrees).
The probable nova seems to be still on the rise. Confirmation,
spectroscopy, photometry and accurate astrometry are most urgently requested.
