Note: The observation of AB Aurigae was made following G. Poyner's
alert of a rapid fade of this star [vsnet-obs 8789]. It was stated
that BAA observers recorded a fade from mv = 6.9 to 8.1 during
1997 Nov. 30.8 UT to Dec. 1.8 UT. T. Kato has compiled a list of
nearby comparison stars using Hipparcos and Tycho data [vsnet 1057].
  Full details of GRL's observation:

      Estimate Magnitude Class
      -------------------------------
        A-4 7.11
        B+3 7.30
        C+7 7.23
      -------------------------------
      Mean magnitude <7.21> 2

   Comparison stars used: A = HIP 22633 (V = 6.71), B = TYC 2387.171
   (V = 7.60), C = TYC 2388.1606 (V = 7.93).

Observers:
GRL = Bjorn H. Granslo (Blindern, Oslo, Norway). Instrument: 70-mm
refractor (L70). Partly cloudy, clearing. AAVSO sequence (PEP-V)
  of X Persei.
HLS = Lars T. Heen (Troy, NY, USA). Instrument: naked eye (NE).
Observations are step estimates. SVSO charts.
