Is it a red star perhaps, shining strongly for the unfiltered CCD or is it an actual outburst of a CV? The 12.3CR value originates from several hours of timeseries where no obvious modulation (except from possible inadequate flatfielding) was visible. This star will be regularly monitored in future until its nature is more clear. I intend to perform a simultaneous visual observation to get a (v-CR) and approximate (V-R) estimate. reported CR magnitudes result from differential photometry to non-red comparison stars with R magnitudes (directly or derived) from published photometric data or traceable to UCAC1 (comparison stars selected from USNO-A2.0 data on the basis of non-red colour and reliability of the data). -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
