DEAR TAICHI! BETA CMI /BE STAR/ FADING, +3.3 MG. /PSK/
On 02/18/2003 2:00 UT I measured visually beta CMi at 3.2. I used the comparison stars: Xi Gem 3.3, Kappa Ori 2.1, Lamda Gem 3.6, mu Lep 3.3 and eps Gem 3.0. The magnitudes are from AAVSO charts. Visually I was not able to separate eps and gamma CMi from beta CMi. My estimate for the combined triple was between 2.7 and 2.8. I then subtracted out eps CMi (V=4.998) and gamma CMi (V=4.34) which left beta CMi between 3.15 and 3.3. The equation I used was from the Jean Meeus book "Astronomical Algorithms".
