"CR" means that the imaging was made with clear filter or without
filter, and the magnitude estimate was done with respect to the red
magnitudes of the field reference stars (such as "rmag" in USNO-A
catalogs). The field stars often have red colors, so the red
magnitudes of these stars are smaller than in V or visual band by one
magnitude or more.
