V503 Cyg rebrightening? : data corrections
We have received the following correct data from Starkey. There was
no indication of a rebrightening.
---
Upon closer examination of the data from Aug 02,2002, I have found that I
had condensation on the window of the CCD camera in the area of my comps
star. I switched to different C and K stars which are away from the
condensation area and also discarded the first few observations. I have
also taken the average of two different comp stars using the V magnitudes as
shown in the data below. I am showing a difference of 0.2 - 0.3 mag, with
the -32 comp values being brighter, between the magnitudes generated by
comparison to the two stars [comp star -3 is much more red than comp
star -32] This also dramatically improved my error rate [now 0.047]. I
have attached the new reduction of the observations. Do these numbers look
reasonable? I have not received any others observer's data on V503 Cyg
since July 22 [owner-vsnet-campaign-dn] and then the mag was in the 14.0
range.
