Perhaps it would be a better custom to use some catalog number (GSC?)
unless there is a NSV name. No one knows if there us yet another
suspected variable in the same field.<<
I agree. However, this nomenclature is the AAVSO method of
notating/reporting suspected variables on their charts. Since my VSNET
reports are created from my AAVSO files this gets forwarded. I will just
delete them (when I remember) before sending to VSNET from now on.
