[vsnet-obs 38244] [FWD] SN 2002ap at APO

>Date: Sat, 9 Feb 2002 02:21:28 -0700 (MST)
From: John Barentine <jcb@apo.nmsu.edu>
Subject: SNe2002ap observed 2002.08.02

I have observations of this object to report to your list. They were made
with the New Mexico State University 1.0m reflector at Apache Point, New
Mexico on UT 2002 February 08.08 under clear skies and photometric
conditions. Because of limited available time in these observations I
have at this point only a V magnitude, but differential measurements also
gave a variety of color indices. Here are the results:

V = 12.36 +/- 0.03

B-V = 0.871 +/- 0.017
V-R = 0.121 +/- 0.001
R-I = -0.445 +/- 0.004
I-z' = -0.812 +/- 0.007

Note that the cited errors are based on 1-sigma error bars. The SN was
observed 5 times in each passband with the exception of V, which had 7
observations over approximately 1 hour.

I also have color indices for some of the field stars which may be useful
to other observers, since I could find no published values searching ADS
or SIMBAD. Once I have an accompanying CCD frame to use as a finder
chart, I will forward this information on to you as well.

We hope to obtain further observations during the time this object is
visible. I will report those to you as the data are reduced.

Sincerely,

John Barentine
