catalogues, visual by BAA.VSS.

Observation of Nova Ophiuchi 2002 from Jan. 29.231 UT: D-1; E+2
(class 2). Comparison stars (V-magnitudes from Tycho-1 catalogue):
D = 8.75 (HIP 86023 = TYC 6235-2867), E = 8.98 (TYC 6248-0642).
Despite moonlight, astronomical twilight and an altitude of
7 degrees I was able to obtain fairly accurate brightness estimates.
The telescopic limiting magnitude was close to 10.0 (TYC 6248-1077,
located ~75" from nova, was faintly visible).
Yours sincerely,
Bjorn H. Granslo
