Sebastian, Chris, et. al.,
Galileo clearly observed the expected eclipse of Delta Velorum. The
brightness data is not available since we chose to forego lots of
potentially confusing data on other nearby stars in favor of forcing the
spacecraft to look unequivocally at D. Vel and simply report whether or not
it was within the expected brightness range. We saw the first indication of
lowered intensity at 01-050/15:45 and these indications continued until
01-050/19:00 at least. We will not receive any indication of when it
returned to normal. Note that the star was almost certainly dimming before
15:45 period. The triggering level was set such that our indication
probably began when the star was at roughly at 2.1 magnitude. This is a
very crude estimate.
