Dear Arne,
NSV4189 appears very red on the colour photos of Eugene Brings. I have not
looked for this visually but then it is not good to look for colour when
estimating red variables. This star is currently declining as per the
following visual estimates, using GSC comparisons previously mentioned
(vsnet-chat 2570).
STAR YYMMDD(UT) MAG OBSERVER
HYANSV04189 20000207.5 110 WPX
HYANSV04189 20000225.5 114 WPX
HYANSV04189 20000303.5 125 WPX
Also, NSV4223 Pyx mentioned recently (vsnet-chat 2644, 2660) is now near
minimum, about magnitude
14.9 (GSC) on Feb 29.5UT.
Regards
Peter Williams.

I think I found the right field this time. In 70 seconds at B,
the variable peaks around 3600DN. In two seconds at I, the
star is saturated and blooming. Amazingly red. I stay
clear of such red variables since standardized photometry
is almost impossible.
