Visual observation of 23 February 2000
observer: Berto Monard MLF,
Pretoria, South Africa
instruments: 32cm /f4.8 Newtonian
conditions:
several layers of cloud, possibly caused by the turbulence of the nearby
cyclone. No chance to observe OY Car near the horizon...
RXJ0640-24 000223.732 123 MLF T2
seq. *
PUPV347 000223.753 132 MLF
PICRR 000223.76 123 MLF
COLTV 000223.76 142 MLF
* RXJ0640-24 during its second 'live' outburst shows again a short
brightening without a plateau.
It is not impossible that it belongs to the UGSU category with
superoutbursts of longer duration and superhumps to come: a worthwhile target to
monitor.
With outbursts at magnitudes of 11.5 and possibly brighter, how could it
have been overlooked so long...
Regards,
Berto
