1918+04 V1494 AQUILAE (Nova Aql 1999 No. 2)
Recent observations by undersigned in VSNET format:
Object YYMMDD(UT) Mag Obs Notes
AQLV1494 000118.258 83 GRL 70-mm R (24x). Est. 3-7;5+1;6+4 (1)
AQLV1494 000119.254 85 GRL 70-mm R (24x). Est. 5-1;6+2 (2)
The nova is by now visible in the morning sky. I was able to
observe it without much difficulty with the 70-mm refractor.
Observations are Pogson step estimates (1 step = 0.1 magnitude),
i.e. 5-1 means nova 0.1 mag fainter than comparison star '5', and
6+2 means nova 0.2 mag brighter than '6'. The average magnitude
from the estimates is given under the Mag column.
Comparison stars (V magnitudes from the Hipparcos and Tycho
catalogues): 3 = 7.77 (HIP 95401), 5 = 8.40 (TYC 0472-0641),
6 = 8.66 (TYC 0473-5917).
Observers (AAVSO code, name, and observing location):
GRL = Bjorn H. Granslo (Fjellhamar, Norway).
Yours sincerely,
Bjorn H. Granslo
