Hi,
I would like to point at an unfortunate situation regarding a
comparison star in the AAVSO sequence. It concerns the star indicated
as 56, which lies to the South West of V382 Vel.
In my binocular view of last night this star looks distinctly fainter
than the nova, while star 59 to the ENE looks brighter than the
nova...
The fact that the 56 star lies somewhat closer to the horizon should
not make it appear that much fainter.
With the nova around this magnitude this unfortunate circumstance
might cause an erroneous part on the light curve.
I wonder if Rod Stubbings also used this comparison star...
Regards,
Berto Monard
