I managed to take some wide angle photographs of the nova on Monday night
from about 20h30 to 22h00 SAST (18h30 - 20h00 UT). The images include the
S Cross and show the magnitude to be about 3.5.
Two colleagues made the brightness 3.4 and 3.6 on the same night from
different places in Cape Town.
