Naked Eye Visual Magnitude estimates  ( mags from Tycho Cat. ) made by
Stuart Rae, (Palmerston North, New Zealand)


May 23.263; m_v =  2.5     n =  B; nova fainter than C, but brighter than A
and D

May 23.313; m_v =  2.6     B (1) n (2) A

May 23.367; m_v = 2.5       n = B

May 23.428; m_v = 2.6

Stars used:
A)   delta Cru        2.8
B)   kappa Vel      2.5
C)   iota Car          2.3
D)   upsilon Car    3.0


Also:

May 24.288; m_v =3.4

May 25.261; m_v =3.8


Note: mu Vel  (v_m = 2.8) is excluded from sequence, as B-V is  approx
+0.9. To me it
does not visually match the sequence of stars listed above.
