Dear Colleagues, I have obtained a sequence of CCD images of Var21 CrB (the newly discovered dwarf nova in CrB) last night, which presumably show the object in outburst ! However, the object does not appear exactly on the position as indicated on the recently released VSNET chart. In fact, the suspected candidate is visible approx. 1.3' S of that position. Given this uncertainty, I have decided not to issue a CVC (although Var21 CrB will be added to the CVAP). I need some confirmation first (preferably by CCD observers, since the full moon will trouble visual observers too much). Here are some further details of selected -unfiltered- CCD images, which tend to illustrate the variable nature of the suspected candidate : 1996 May 29 23h22m UT, 15.3 (comp 1320, VSNET chart) May 29 23h45m UT, 15.6 May 30 01h19m UT, 15.3 May 30 02h07m UT, 15.9 Kind regards, Tonny Vanmunster CBA Belgium
