[vsnet-obs 19524] U Sco observations



*** Recurrent nova U Scorpii in rare outburst ***

Visual observations by Bjorn H. Granslo, Fjellhamar, Norway
(latitude 60 deg. N):

  1999 UT    Estimates  Class  Mag    Instrument
Feb. 27.185  B-3;T=V;U+3   1    9.6  20.3-cm SCT (100x)
Mar.  2.209    U-7;D=V     2   10.7  20.3-cm SCT (100x)

Due to clouds U Sco was only clearly seen for a few minutes on Feb 27.
Second observation was affected by twilight and moonlight, U Sco
was only faintly visible. Earlier observing was prevented by clouds.

Comparison stars (V-magnitudes from Hipparcos and Tycho catalogues):
B=9.25, T=9.66, U=9.91, D=10.68.
