Suspected red variable star in Cassiopeia
When comparing some DSS images, I found what appears to be a new red variable star at
01 03 06.009 +71 54 56.91 (J2000.0), USNO-A2.0 position. Visual magnitude range at
least 14.0 - 16.0. Type could be either SR, L or Mira. USNO-A2.0 gives rmag = 14.0 and
bmag = 17.0, indicating vmag around 15.0. Details from the three images available to me:
POSS-E Red, Plate XE 029, Epoch 1954.727: rmag = 14.0, indicating vmag approx 15.0.
POSSD II Red, Plate XP051, Epoch 1995.587: rmag = 13.0, indicating vmag approx 14.0.
Quick-V Northern, Plate N029, Epoch 1983.852: vmag = 16.0.
It would be interesting to know if there are other references to this star.
