Observers:
GRL = Bjorn H. Granslo (Funchal, Madeira, Portugal). Instruments:
  7.0-cm refractor (L70), 10x50 binoculars (B10x50). Observations
are Pogson step estimates. AAVSO sequences unless noted. All of
my observations during 1998 June 24-25 to July 7-8 were made
  from this location (lat. 32o 40' N, long. 16o 55' W). I made a
special effort to observe objects that were only visible in
early evening or late night. This report contains observations
reduced so far (for the first three nights). Conditions were
generally more or less cloudy and hazy, but observing was
possible on most nights. The sky was moderately light polluted
(naked eye limit 5.5-6.0 at best, Milky Way visible but not
prominently). Note concerning the above observations of R Aqr
and R Cas: Deduced magnitudes were somewhat uncertain as my
comparison stars (labelled by letters) were not identified
properly at the time of observation (I had to rely on memory).
As this trip was made at only two days notice I did not have
enough time to bring along and prepare charts for all variables
I attempted to observe. For objects lacking charts I made field
scetches to identify the variable and the comparison stars. My
general chart resource was Sky Atlas 2000.0.
