The optical counterpart of GRB 980425 (or a possible SN in ESO 184-G82) was seen at the limit of visibility under conditions of strong moonlight to the West and some clearing from the imminent sunrise to the East.

To come back to my last night's observation of SN 1998bu, I wish to express my extreme satisfaction to have seen it so far North. It has been by far the most Northern target viewed from my observing area.
Indeed a real target of opportunity.....through a gap in the trees.
