In response to vsnet-discovery-nova 154 dated 28/10/02.

I regret that I am unable to confirm the new variable star
discovery by the MISAO Project, MisV1181, which may have
been a possible nova or transient object in 2001.

Coverage of Patrol Area 7 on my UK Patrol film may help
place limits on the period of brightening:

2001 Jun 28.03 UT     fainter than 13.0 and not visible.
2001 Oct    8.91 UT     fainter than 13.0 and not visible.

Hydrogen gas hypered TechPan 2415 film with 135 mm lens f2.8.
Exposure times of 5 minutes. Film developed in D-19.
Film limit on both dates may be 13.5 and I can clearly detect
GSC 4290.1229 (mag 13.0) on both pairs of exposures.

I regret that I do not have exposures closer to the Sep 19.56 UT epoch.
