Request for reporting outburst detections to vsnet-outburst Dear Colleages, We have recently had a number of subscription requests, particularly to vsnet-outburst and related lists. These requests illustrate the increasing world-wide needs for most up-to-date outburst detection alerts. (This is probably not unrelated to the recent change in the service form of AAVSO New Flashes). Since not all members subscribe to vsnet-obs, we would thereby ask all observers to notify your outburst detections (especially for newly detected outbursts) as timely as possible. A simple extraction of the corresponding part in your vsnet-obs reports will be sufficient. This may require a bit additional daily work at the observer's side, but its effect in such a public medium will be enormous in astrophysical sense. We thank all observers for their timely reporting observations, and will thank all those who will contribute to vsnet-outburst alert system. Of course, rare outburst detections (particularly WZ Sge-type and related systems) should naturally be reported to vsnet-alert as well! Regards, Taichi Kato VSNET admin
