Brian, Arto Oksanen has done astrometry on my confirmation image of 20/6 against the USNO-A2.0 frame using 17 stars. He derived a position 05 08 25.71 -68 26 23.3 with a mean residual of 0.55 arcsec. The evening image is expected to show a position even more to the SE. Although not the final result yet, this all seems to give support to Brian's point. There is possibly a nova after all.. More and better astrometry will be done. Berto >>> Brian Skiff <Brian.Skiff@lowell.edu> 06/24/03 09:55AM >>> Kato-san's just put one of your images on the Web along with matching 2MASS images. As I've already posted to vsnet-alert, the new object clearly is _not_ the red star we've been talking about, but seems offset an arcsec or few southeast of it. So this is either the very faint 2MASS star there, or something entirely new. \Brian -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
