Since 1998 I couldn't document any of these events in my visual lightcurves
of mira stars. This doesn't mean they don't exist, of course, but...

I didn't observe any flare activity. Vello Tabur informed of flare activity
around 2452330 and said it was consistent with AAVSO observations. However,
AAVSO "bright" obervations are 4 and were made on JD 2452335.6, 2452336.6,
2452338.6 and 2452339.6 and THERE ARE observations by other AAVSO observers
made siimultaneously that don't show signs of a brightening. I think that's
why AAVSO staff didn't flagg those observations as valid. (So those
observations were discounted as a 'glitch' after all!!)
There are observations between 7.8 and 8.1 on JD 2452336.9, 2452337.4,
2452339.6 and 2452339.9 showing no activity.
Furthermore, the "bright" magnitudes seem to belong to the same
observer..... while the other four observations are for a different observer
each.
So it's better not to jump to conclussions.

My observations around that time are:
20020224.235 12329.735 7.43
20020302.289 12335.789 7.44
20020306.099 12339.599 7.44
20020315.157 12348.657 7.46

Very stable......

I have uploaded a lightcurve including ASAS-3 data. (go to the bottom of the
page for the flaring thing)
http://ar.geocities.com/varsao/Curva_R_Cen.htm

Unfortunately, there are no observations for that period of time.

Regards,
Sebastian.
