Or was it GK Persei? (classical nova outburst in 1983?)
PS. The fastest method to send out alert to the U.S. from
Japan then was an international telegram. Ah good old days.
[though it makes me wonder...a greater amount of new
data are now coming in...but are we any better at digesting
them fast in a "reasonable" and "prudent" manner *right now*?]
