[vsnet-chat 6355] ASAS 032509-1221.3 = VX Eri

ASAS 032509-1221.3 -classified as MISC- is VX Eri - SR-type, range
10.0-10.6p in the GCVS. No period is given, whcih I don't understand. I
still don't get the point why thousands of periodic variables (specially
EB's) don't have a period quoted in the mot important catalogue of variable
stars.
The key to understand these objects is knowing their periods... (Even delta
Vel's 45.15 dyas ultra-already-known- period is not quoted... Is it so much
expensive and difficult to add this information???)

ASAS-3 gives a period of 173 days. V range = 8.74 - 9.64
There seems to be beating periods as in most SR's but the main period is 390
days, not 173.

This star also illustrates the other day's discussion with Brian regarding
the p magnitudes converted to V assuming p=B and using B-V. This is an M3
star and such as the examples I gave the other day, the converted magnitudes
tend to be too bright (Besides we probably don't know the total amplitude of
the object)

Regards,
Sebastian.
