About the ASAS-3 catalogue. I was searching for bright low amplitude variables and found some problems that seem to be typical with surveys, i.e. probably misidentifications. Take a look at: http://vsnet.astrouw.edu.pl/cgi-asas/asas_variable/133855-5501.5,asas3,0,500,0 ,0 that is probably the bright Hipparcos elipsing binary V975 Centauri. The last months of observations are obviously fo the correct star since the V magnitude is around V= 7.37. But during the past years for the same query there are observations of doubtful ID. Before JD 2452144 a fainter star seems to have been measured or different stars have been measured alternatively and presented as only one. Or accuracy was greatly worse those days than it is now and the results were very discrepant. The same happened in a search for V883 Centauri and KV CMa. A full magnitude spread and much better and corresponding results lately. Anton, could you inform us about these issues? Best regards, Sebastian.
