I don't think there's any problem with Doug's reductions - it's merely that
the values adopted for the comparisons suffer in the translation from Vt and
Bt and the values don't truly represent the comparison star values. These
apparent problems would disappear if he used genuine photometric standards.
I got values for ninth magnitude stars which differ from those derived using
the relationships mentioned by Aaron Price and which I presume that Doug is
using. At tenth and eleventh magnitude the scatter would be worse. I'm
having my moments down here trying to determine some consistent V-R
transformations. It all looks so noisy with the shorter V-R baseline as
compared to B-V.
