Sebastian was the only person to spot my mistake. So I guess nobody else
reads my posts and I can say whatever I like in future...? ;-)
Careless me read the wrong name off my observing notes. Report -should-
read:
> CENV744 20010909.469 74
> NSV6507 20010909.471 83
V412 Cen, incidentally, was also mag 7.4 (which is not unusual) that
evening.
The E? classification for V744 Cen isn't from GCVS 3 or 4. My local
bibliography simply cites "RASNZ note"; which means a VSS RASNZ
newsletter or article. I can't check this at the moment because my old
files are still in storage after my last change of home.
I've not been able to confirm the fade either. None of the clear bits of
sky tonight were in the appropriate direction :(
