I'll give a more detailed discussion after I have had a chance
to look at the plots, but it sounds like Brian's comments are
right on target.  In addition, remember that Tycho is not a good
photometric standards reference even if you are using the brighter
stars.  The Bt/Vt magnitudes are *not* on the Johnson system,
and the transformations to change Bt/Vt into B/V have inherent,
systematic errors.  So using Tycho transformed magnitudes is not
the way to go for proper determination of the transformation and
extinction coefficients.  They can certainly be used to get a
rough handle on those coefficients, but use Landolt or Cousins
stars for the real task.
