   HQ Mon was originally discovered as an RV Tau star.  The peculiar Be-like
emission feature was noted by Lloyd Evans 1984 (Observatory 104, 221).
The object has been on the VSOLJ program since that time.  More recent
spectroscopic studies include Wahlgren 1992 (AJ 104, 1174) and Zwitter and
Munari 1994 (A&AS 107, 503).
