I agree with Patrick in his comments about unnecessary postings to vsnet-alert.
vsnet-alert should be reserved for rare events. Thus stars that go into outburst several times a year should normally not be mentioned in vsnet-alerts.
Where to draw the line between what is an interesting rare outburst and what is not, is not that difficult.
I think most observers that follow the vsnet messages know when an outburst is of high interest and when an outburst is of minor interest.
